He proudly identified himself as a Korean War Veteran. He was honorably discharged in 1955 and upon his return, made his home in Overland Park, Kansas, with first wife, Elsie Hubble-Angell and their children. In 1969 the family moved to Stilwell, Kansas.
Bill returned to Overland Park a number of years later where he re-married and lived with wife Yvonne Gigax-Angell and continued to work at the Olathe Delco Remy plant (from 5/25/1956) until his retirement on 5/31/1988. He was a 32 Degree Mason and life member of the 40/8 Voure, VFW Post 846, and the American Legion Dwight G. Cowles Post 370. He and wife Yvonne attended yearly state and national conferences and he held many different officer positions within these organizations. Eventually, he worked his way up to the position of Kansas State Commander for the American Legion 1990-91.
He was an avid collector of many things: coins, bottles, Hummels, Precious Moments, and anything #24-Jeff Gordon. In May of 2009 he was diagnosed with having had Alzheimer's/Dementia for approximately 8 years. Unable to live alone, he spent the last few years of his life in California and Washington, where his daughters and granddaughter Stephanie were his care givers.
