William Peter Battle

William Peter Battle, 74, passed away August 19, 2014. William was born July 16, 1940 in Scranton, PA, to William Francis and Mary Battle. He graduated from South Scranton Catholic High School and the University of Scranton. He was a veteran from the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was employed by the United States government with FAA in Washington, D.C., and with the Bureau of Land Management and the Bureau of Mines in Denver, Colorado, for thirty years. He then retired to Pittsburgh, PA for the remaining years. He recently relocated to the Kansas City area to be near his children. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Patrick (Tiffany) Battle, Junction City, Kansas; son, Wm. Lawrence Battle, Basehor, Kansas; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara (Jason) Crum, Shawnee, Kansas; a daughter and son-in-law Mary (David) Stuever, Huber Heights, Ohio; a daughter, "Libby" Battle, Lenexa, Kansas; four granddaughters and four grandsons: Lauren and Aidan (Patrick), Abigail, Logan, and Emily (Barbara), Isabelle, Brendan, and Calvin (Mary), sister, Mary "Bonnie" O'Neill and 1 nephew and 3 nieces from Bowie, Maryland, and the Maryland suburbs, Michael, Colleen, Maureen, and Kathleen. William was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Eckles, parents, and infant son, Gerard Battle.

Services

A Visitation has been scheduled from 6:00 - 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. A Memorial Mass has been scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday August 22, 2014 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
