William M. Hambelton

William M. Hambelton, 87, of Shawnee, Kansas, died September 9, 2010 at home.

Bill, the son of Oliver M. Hambelton and Emma Obermeier is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wilma, and his six children, Cassandra Williams (Richard), Paul Hambelton (Judith), Nancy White (Donald), Donna Sawyer (Neal), John Hambelton (Lisa) and Timothy Hambelton (Kristal). He had 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Bill was born in 1922 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was a veteran of World War II serving as a U.S. Navy aviator. After leaving the service he farmed in the Butler, Missouri, area before he began a long career with the FAA. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Joseph Funeral Luncheon Committee.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 12, 2010, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, with a Rosary at 5:00. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
