William Robert "Sonny" La Muer, 56, of Shawnee, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Menorah Medical Center.

Sonny was born December 29, 1960 to William R. La Muer, Sr. and Mattie L. May in Hutchinson, KS.  He attended Hutchinson High School where he played basketball and graduated in 1979.  After high school Sonny attended Hutchinson Community Junior College on an athletic scholarship for basketball.  Sonny loved sports, especially basketball, baseball and softball.  He was an avid KU basketball and L.A. Lakers fan. Sonny will be remembered for his vivacious personality and a great sense of humor.  He is preceded in death by his father, William R. La Muer, Sr.

Sonny is survived by his son, Andre La Muer; his mother, Mattie L. May; two sisters, Tina Goodall; Elaine Jackson;  an aunt, Robette Goodwin and husband Otis; wife Susan La Muer; a brother and lifetime friend Charles Errett Mackey.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, September, 24 at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee.  Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m.  Sonny will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. Monday, September 25 in Fairlawn Burial Park in Hutchinson, KS.
