William Charles Lochman

William “Bill” Charles Lochman passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024.  Bill was born September 5, 1941 in Kansas City, MO to parents Walton and Blanche (Brown) Lochman.  He moved many times with his family growing up including Chicago, Wichita Falls, TX, Goodland, KS and Topeka, KS.  He told the story on several occasions that he attended 8 different schools in 8 years.  He graduated from Van Horn High School in Independence, MO in 1959.  Bill attended the University of Kansas City until he joined the Air Force in 1960 where he served, stationed in Minot, ND until his discharge in 1964.  Upon returning to the Kansas City area, Bill followed in his family footsteps and started a long career in the media industry working at the Kansas City Star, KCKN-AM, KMBC Channel 9, KCFM-FM, and WDAF-AM 61 Country on two separate occasions, as well as several other media related companies.  He married Lois Gleue on September 9, 1967 and they made their home in Independence, MO until his passing.  He enjoyed traveling, especially to Cocoa Beach, FL, spending time with family and friends and adored his grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Walt and his wife Wilma, brother Curtis, sister Connie Hutton and her husband Ronald, nephew Larry Lochman and niece Laura (Lochman) Wickell.  He is survived by his wife Lois of 56 years, son Rob, wife Leslie and grandchildren Isabelle, Henry, and Jayson of Charlotte, NC, and daughter Katie and husband Scott Myers of Lee’s Summit, MO, nephew Mike Hutton of Lodi, CA, nieces Teri (Lochman) Bennin of Cocoa, FL, Cheri (Hutton) Pitchford of Lodi, CA, Debbie (Hutton) Livingston of Lodi, CA, and Vicki (Lochman) Kendrick of Jacksonville, FL as well as many cousins, extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at The American Legion at 16701 E US Hwy 40, Independence from 1p-4p.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ASPCA.
