William George Magerl Age 87 Born June 25, 1934.
The bell rang for “Bill” on December 10, 2021 after a battle with cancer. Bill’s father would ring his outdoor bell at the family home to celebrate special occasions. During his final days Bill requested that the bell be rung for his passing.
Born June 25, 1934 to John Sr. and Grace Magerl, Bill was the 4th of 7 children. He attended St. Agnes Grade School and High School and worked at the family grocery store, Johnie’s Market on KCMO’s, Westside. Bill continued to work at the market and thoroughly enjoyed serving the community until they sold the business in 1989. Following his high school graduation, Bill married Doris Fox, they raised five children.
After retiring from his first career, Bill went to work at Enterprise Rent-A-Car where he served in many roles until he retired again in 1997. After a few short months he took on a new position as a courier at Trabon Printing. Anyone that knew Bill will agree that he held the highest example of work ethic and always had a list of projects that needed to be done. In his spare time Bill loved watching KU Basketball, Royals and Chiefs games and spending time at the Casino. His best moments were spent telling stories and having special times with his Grandchildren.
