William Howard Miller

September 25, 1921 — February 1, 2017

William Howard Miller received his angel wings on February 1, 2017. He was born on September 25, 1921 in Burlington Junction, MO to William R. (Billy) and Mary E. Miller.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Dot Miller and his younger brother Charles Miller. Howard attended Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, MO before joining North American Aviation during WWII.

He also worked for TWA for a time and then went to work for Merchants Biscuit Co. which later became Keebler Co. He began as a salesman and rose to Zone Manager. He retired from Keebler after 33 years. Howard enjoyed extensive travel with his wife Mary to many places in the world and later with family. Howard was a member of Public Link Seniors Golf for several years and always liked being on the golf course with his friends. Shortly after his wife died he hit a hole in one and said it was Mary who blew the ball in to make him feel better.

He also found much comfort in his church, Valley View United Methodist of Overland Park, KS. Dad left a wonderful legacy for those who knew and loved him. He was quite gifted with his hands and was always available when something needed to be repaired. He also fixed a lot of hearts by always being there to lend advice or just to listen.

As a doting grandfather he seldom missed activities which involved his grandchildren. He was a great provider, a very wise man and a wonderful role model who had a keen memory and will be sorely missed. He also was a big Royals fan and one of his last comments he asked if he would be able to listen to the KC Royals after his recent move to Georgia. Now he will have a front row seat in heaven.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Bob and Karen Miller, Sapulpa, OK. and his daughter and son-in-law Pat and Ralph McFillen, Suwanee, GA. Granddaughters; Teri Wead and husband Jim, Grandson Darroll Miller and wife Darcie all of Chicago, IL., Kim Donat and husband Jimmie, Cumming, GA. and Jenny Ellington and husband Brad, Oakura, NZ., Chicago, IL. Great grandchildren; R.J. and Jennifer Mepham, Jeff, Sirena and Willa Mepham, Abbie and Izzie Miller, Sam Miller, Abby and Kyle Durham, Megan and Emily Donat and Lindsey, Skyler and Owen Ellington. Plus he was a loving Uncle to his nieces and nephews. Fly high sweet Dad you so deserve it.
