William “Bill” Joseph Sachen

December 17, 1946 — March 4, 2016

William "Bill" Joseph Sachen, 69, of Merriam, KS, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 after a yearlong illness of kidney cancer. Bill was born December 17, 1946 in Kansas City, KS, to Joseph and Lena (Casper) Sachen. Bill is survived by his wife Sophia (Nowak); brother Robert (Gloria) Sachen; sons Joe (Nelissa) Sachen; Daniel Allen Sachen; three grandchildren Daniel, Marrissa, Ashley Sachen; Bill served in the Army as military intelligence/ NSA from 1965 -1969; he used his VA benefits for his Votch training; Bill retired from the HVAC industry where he worked for over thirty-five years. He also was a graduate of Wyandotte high school in 1964. Bill and Sophia enjoyed almost thirty-one years of marriage, it was filled with constant laughter, many vacations, Hawaii, California, Washington D.C., Arizona, Florida, Poland and Mexico. Bill was born with a very competitive spirit, he loved the challenge, as well as board games, and he was an expert at playing, providing a real challenge to all that played against him. Bill and Sophia have also spent the last ten years going to breakfast with their IHOP family in Merriam. Bill's family would like to thank everyone at Menorah Hospital for all of their compassion and care, along with Crossroads hospice for helping with the transition. Bill was blessed to be born into a large family, that he remained close to all of his life, the Casper family, nine aunts and uncles, and twenty-four loving cousins, as well as his extended Golubski family.

Service

A celebration of life will be held March 16, 2016 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive.
