William L. “Bill” Walters

Bill Walters, 88, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away July 6, 2013.

Bill was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from Northeast High School in 1942, and William Jewell College in 1950. Bill served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed restoring Model A cars and was a member of Brookridge Country Club for 50 years. He was united in marriage to a girl in his neighborhood, Alta Jean Friend, in 1947. Bill retired after 40 years as an insurance adjuster from G.A.B. Insurance Adjusting Company.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alta Jean; daughter Shelley Hickman Clark, J.D. (James); son W. David Walters, M.D. (Leanna); grandchildren Scott Hickman, M.D., Courtney Meyer, B.S.W., Kelley Catlin, J.D., Zachary Walters, Ph.D., Nathan Walters, Ph.D.; and five great-grandchildren.

Bill loved his family deeply and will be forever missed.

Private family memorial services will be held with burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
