William Harold Ward

William Harold Ward, 96, Louisburg, Kansas, passed away June 19, 2013, at Senior Care Homes-Nantucket House, Overland Park, Kansas.

Harold was born, May 28, 1917, in Glasco, Kansas, to Samuel I. and Martha Ward. He received his bachelor's degree from Sterling College, Sterling, Kansas, graduating Magna Cum Laude. On September 4, 1946, Harold married Margaret Elizabeth "Beth" McMillan. His faith in Jesus Christ was of central importance throughout his life. He was devoted to prayer and Bible study and active in his church. Beyond his career as an X-Ray technologist, Harold was a lifelong mechanic with engineering skills. He would design creative and remarkable solutions for all kinds of mechanical and structural problems around the home.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Beth, in 1986; two sons, David Andrew Ward, in 1962, and William Lewis Ward, in 2013; brother, Samuel Ward; and sister, Alice Shoop.

Survivors include three sons, John M. Ward, Harry A. Ward, both of Olathe, Kansas and H. Tom Ward, Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter, Martha E. Long, Ellicott, Maryland; two brothers, Dr. Robert L. Ward, Pratt, Kansas and Paul M. Ward, Covington, Georgia; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Harold was a devoted husband, father grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Burial in the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
