William Dean “Wild Bill” Wild

William Dean "Wild Bill" Wild, 82, Overland Park, Ks. passed away May 18, 2018 at Olathe Hospice House. Bill was born May 28, 1935 in Marshall, Mn. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1955. Bill studied at St. Johns Lutheran College in Winfield, Ks. Bill married Rita Irene Thompson on May 29, 1958 at Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons, Ks. Bill worked for Krause Manufacturing in Hutchison, Ks. before beginning his career at Trans World Airlines. Bill worked as an A&P mechanic for 30 years before taking medical retirement in 1996. Bill was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church. Bill enjoyed camping and fishing at Pamona Lake with family and friends for over 37 years. After retirement Bill enjoyed volunteering at the church and Meals on Wheels.

Bill was preceded in death by an infant son, his brother Edwin Suhler and his bride of 55 years. Bill is survived by his mother, Esther Suhler, Salina, Ks; sister, Bonnie Baldwin, Salina, Ks.; three daughters, Carla Sue Wild, Topeka, Ks., Karol (James) Young, Kansas City, Ks., Kelly (Ray) Pettigrew, Shawnee, Ks.; five grandchildren, Taylor (Fawn) Wild, Jaimee Wild, Karlee Wild, Nathan Pettigrew and Nick Pettigrew; great granddaughter Trinity Irene Wild; three step grandchildren, Amanda Young, Jacoby Young and Melanie Young; step great granddaughter Edison Young Geary. Bill is also survived by extended family and friends

A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Hope Lutheran Church, 6308 Quivira Shawnee, Ks. 66216. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May, 31 at the church. Inurnment will be at Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, Ks.
