Wilma Nice

December 25, 1930 — November 16, 2013

Wilma (Ogden) Nice, 82, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away November 16, 2013, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Wilma was born December 25, 1930, in Stockton, Missouri, to Lyman and Ida VanBuskirk. Wilma graduated Avila University, Department of Nursing in 1951. She worked at several hospitals including St. Joseph Medical Center, North Kansas City and a Rehabilitation Institute. Not only being a nurse, Wilma owned and operated Arrow Employment Service.

Wilma was elected to Gladstone City Council, serving 2 terms and 1 term as Mayor of Gladstone. She was elected to the Clay County Health Commission serving on Clay, Platte and Ray County Mental Health Board of Trustees, served on the Missouri Council of Criminal Justice, Mid America Regional Council, past president of the West Missouri Municipal League, Charter President Soroptimist International KCN.

Wilma loved camping, water sports, basketball, dancing, bridge, and traveling.

Wilma would like to send a special thanks to her caregivers, sister Carol and all her friends. Wilma also was on the Missouri Council of Criminal Justice

She is survived by her spouse, Dean, sons, Mike, Bruce (Sue), and Neil (Kim) Ogden; grandchildren, Alisha, Charlotte, Luke, Savannah, Tiffany, and Curtis; great-grandchildren, Harley, Braxton, Connor, Rorik. Wilma was preceded in death by her son, Alan Ogden.

Services

Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Amos Family Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203, with burial following at Resurrection Cemetery in Kansas City North, Missouri.
