In 1950, upon graduation from the University of Kansas, Winifred and her new husband, Lee DeYoung, moved to Prairie Village. She also was an active participant in her parish, St. Ann Catholic Church, and served as a volunteer at Saint Joseph Health Center for more than 20 years. Throughout her lifetime, Winifred always seemed to collect a group of close friends effortlessly, whether it was at work, in the neighborhood, or doing volunteer activities. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her daughters and their husbands, Kathleen and Patrick Svoboda, Bucyrus, Kansas, and Nancy and Tom Lauerman, Leawood; a brother, Robert Wilson, Madison, Wisconsin; and four grandchildren, Jennifer and Matthew Cummings and Sarah and Mark Svoboda.
