Yon Suk “Sukie” O’Haver, 76, of Lenexa, KS, passed away on November 13, 2022. She was born on September 28, 1946, in Masan, South Korea, to Chae Sil Chong and Pok Sun Pak. Although her childhood during the Korean war did not afford her many opportunities, her tenacity and determination helped her create a better life for herself. She was a devout catholic and member of the Korean Catholic Church community in Kansas City where she enjoyed serving others through food and faith.
Yon loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters and her dog, Cici. She was the type of grandmother who climbed on the playground equipment and rode roller coasters to make her granddaughters happy. She will be remembered as a life-long learner, an amazing cook, and a loving grandmother. Yon is survived by her daughter, Ginger (Jason) Rucker, and granddaughters, Nico and Zoey.
A visitation will be held at Holy Trinity-Stone Chapel on Saturday, November 19, from 5:00-6:00pm with a funeral mass to immediately follow.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Literacy KC https://literacykc.org/
