Stephanie Leigh Davis

“Some people live for the rules, I live for exceptions.” - 311

Stephanie Davis lived by that sentiment until she passed away on December 7th, 2023, at 7:36pm at the young age of 43 of a heart attack at Advent Health in Overland Park. Stephanie is survived by her mother Shirley Davis, father and step-mother Stephen and Pamela Davis, brother and sister-in-law Scott and Sarah Davis, and son Matthew Knight. Additionally, her family includes her long-term boyfriend Ryan Spornitz, 5 aunts, 4 uncles, and 9 cousins, with family scattered across Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Minnesota, and Arizona. Stephanie graduated from Shawnee Mission West in 1999. She was currently pursuing her degree in Business Administration at Baker University.

Stephanie was a kind and gentle soul. As an avid dog lover, she was involved in pet rescue organizations and rescued her current dog Simba. Stephanie worked at Convergint Technologies as an administrative assistant for the last few years. She loved her job and her coworkers, who described her as: “a shining star, eagerly anticipating the unfolding chapters of her career. Her enthusiasm and dedication were infectious, making her not only a valued coworker but a cherished friend to many. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, and her memory will forever echo in the halls of our workplace.” - Taryn Hall

Her parents describe her as having a very loving and caring soul. Her infectious sense of humor would always draw everyone near her and was a welcomed presence in any room she walked into. She never met stranger and would always actively seek out common interests to keep the conversation going. Some of her best friends were met this way, whether in her daily life or at her beloved 311 concerts.

Her mother, Shirley, describes her as her rock, saying “she was always there in my time in need, and I will miss her morning texts of ‘Good Morning’. She will forever be my baby girl and I will miss her terribly in my heart and soul.”

Her father, Steve, describes her impact by saying, “even though we were many miles apart, I will miss her 4pm phone calls every Saturday. Our conversations would last from 10 minutes or an hour. There will be a profound abyss in my heart of the unbelievable loss in my heart. I will miss my one and only daughter.”

Her brother, Scott, describes her simply as his “best friend. She would always and forever be my 311-concert sister and every time we were together, we would lift each other up with words of encouragement and she would always help me with difficult decisions in life. I love her with all my heart and a piece of it will forever be missing with her absence.”

Her son, Matthew, describes her as, “very funny, witty, very active in my life and helped me socially and mentally. She was loving and caring, and there wasn’t a day that didn’t go by where she didn’t ask me about how my day was and always treated my friends and indirect relatives with respect and love. I will miss mom”.

Her friends were her life, and she would drop everything for them no matter the situation. There were nothing but kind words and love from the people in her life.

Her long time friend Allison Johnson said: “Navigating life without you is too much to comprehend. You radiate endless love and beauty; your light can never be replicated”.

Miguel Larios, who Stephanie and Scott frequented 311 concerts with, considered her a sister, and Scott a brother.

Stephanie was an avid music lover. Her phone would be filled with Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Backstreet Boys, the guilty pleasures of New Kids on the Block and her favorite band 311. She had many 311 quotes posted all over her life everywhere, in physical art posters, clothing, and on her heart. They brought her peace, joy, and friendship. Her favorite TV shows included Friends, Sex and the City, Big Bang Theory, 90-day Fiancé, Law and Order SVU (she enjoyed the Stabler years) and any murder documentary. You would always see her watching her favorite movies of Willie Wonka, The Goonies, Pee-wees Big Adventure, Breakfast Club and Wizard of Oz.

Services will be taking place Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at  the Amos Family  Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS 66203 at 4-6pm.
