Gregg Amos, Owner and Chairman of the Board of the Amos Family Funeral Home was born at St. Luke’s Hospital and has lived his entire life in Johnson County. Gregg began working in the family business in 1966, washing cars, mowing grass, and doing all the necessary chores around the funeral home. He attended elementary school in Shawnee, Hocker Grove Jr. High and Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. He then graduated from Johnson County Community College. He received his mortuary training at the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science.
Gregg is a Past-President of the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce, the Shawnee Morning Optimist Club, and the Shawnee Mission Rotary Club. He is an avid sports fan and has enjoyed managing the Amos Angels softball and baseball teams. Gregg also loves to collect sports memorabilia.
He is married to Brenda Cheatham Amos and they have three children, Megan, Melissa and Parker, five grandsons, Nathan, Landon, Grady, Jace, Carter, and one granddaughter, Macie.
G. Parker Amos was born and raised in Shawnee, Kansas. He is a fourth generation Amos family member to be a part of the funeral home.
Parker is the President of Amos Family Funeral Home along with being a licensed funeral director and life insurance agent. He has been working during the summers at the funeral home since the age of 12 before joining the staff full time in the summer of 2011. Parker served as the 2021 Chairman of the Board for the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce.
He graduated in May of 2011 from Emporia State University with a degree in Communications. While at Emporia State, Parker was a member of the baseball team. Before Emporia State he played at Johnson County Community College where he received his Associate’s degree. Parker was a member of the 2008 Junior College World Series team while at JCCC, which was the first in the school’s history.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his boy's baseball team, watching sports, playing golf, fishing, and playing with his dogs.
Parker lives in Lenexa, Kansas, with his wife, Stevie, sons, Grady and Jace, and dogs, Bentley and Stoney.
Mitchell was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He went on to play baseball at Johnson County Community College after high school and graduated with a Finance Degree from Pittsburg State University. He was an Assistant Baseball Coach at JCCC and a Transportation Analyst with YRC Freight before working at Amos Family Funeral Home.
Mitchell became a licensed funeral director in 2016. He resides in Shawnee with his wife, Courtney, daughters, Piper & Elliott, son, Ridge, along with their dachshund, Mia. He and his family are members of Shawnee Presbyterian Church.
In his spare time, Mitchell enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, reading and following most all Royals and Chiefs games.
Amy was born in Kansas City, Missouri, at St. Mary’s Hospital and was raised in Shawnee. Amy attended Flint Grade School, Hocker Grover Junior High and is a 1980 graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. She lived in Shawnee her entire life except when she got married and then moved to St. Louis, Missouri. She lived there for eight years before returning to Shawnee.
Amy has a degree as a Paralegal from St. Louis Community College and worked as a paralegal at the firm of Paule, Camazine & Blumenthal in Clayton, Missouri.
Amy started working in the family business as a child doing various jobs, cleaning, working visitations, office work, whatever needed to be done. She was the office manager when the Lenexa facility opened in 1987 and became office manager of the Shawnee facility in 2008.
Amy’s hobbies include traveling, playing her flute, cooking, and community organizations. She is past president of the Lenexa Rotary Club; Trustee of the Johnson County Library Board; past chairperson of the Friends of Shawnee Town, Old Shawnee Days Society, and the Shawnee Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Additionally, she is a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Amy is married to John Ruo and they have two grown children, daughter, Toni and son, Philip.
Jeff was born in Independence, Missouri, and raised in Springfield, Missouri. Following graduation from Hillcrest High School in 1984, Jeff began working with Cox Medical Center in the surgery department. Jeff received his Mortuary Science degree in 1994 and is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in both Kansas and Missouri.
Jeff has lived in Shawnee since 1992 and has been with the Amos Family Funeral Home since January of 1996.
Jeff devotes most of his time to his family and their activities. Jeff married Kelly Pawlak and has three children, Kyle and his wife, Joni, Noah and Avery and five grandchildren, Isabella, Jeffrey, Olivia, Sophia and Evan.
In his spare time, Jeff enjoys spending time at the lake, playing guitar, bicycling, movies and traveling.
Eryn was born and raised in Winfield, Kansas. She graduated from Winfield High School and obtained her EMT certification. She worked in the Emergency Room for 13 years. She moved to De Soto, Kansas in 2014.
Eryn earned her Mortuary Science degree from Kansas City Community College in December of 2016. She is a licensed funeral director and embalmer.
She enjoys spending time with her husband, LJ, son Ethan, stepson Carson, her cats Binks and Hopper, and her dog Mosby. She loves walking on trails, swimming, and watching movies. Another ambition is meeting new people. Eryn is a member of the Shawnee Tomorrow Leadership Program, class of 2023.
Amy was born in Heidelberg, Germany and has spent most of her life in the Kansas City area. She graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School and then moved to Olathe where she currently lives.
She received her Mortuary Science degree in 2015 and is a licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer and Crematory Operator.
Amy enjoys spending most of her free time with her daughter and her dog Toby. She loves trying new foods, traveling, being outdoors and gardening. She also likes to be in the kitchen cooking and baking new things.
Amy is a member of the Shawnee Tomorrow Leadership Program, class of 2024.
Teagan was born in Ames, Iowa and raised in Storm Lake, Iowa.
She attended school at Morningside University in Sioux City, IA and graduated in December of 2018 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration emphasizing in management and a minor in biology. Afterwards, Teagan went on to Kansas City Kansas Community College to obtain her mortuary science degree, graduating in 2019. She is a licensed funeral director and embalmer.
In her free time, Teagan enjoys spending time at the lake, watching the Chiefs play, and visiting her family up in Iowa. She enjoys meeting new people in her community, and is a member of the Shawnee Tomorrow Leadership Program class of 2022.
Teagan lives in Olathe with her husband Keith, their daughter Tate and their German Shepherd, Maggie.
Wilkerson was born in Olathe, Kansas and grew up in Sterling, Kansas. Knowing that he wanted to be a funeral director since the 7th grade, he attended Hutchinson Community College for his general education, later moving to Kansas City to attend Kansas City Kansas Community College's Mortuary Science program. He graduated in December of 2023.
In his free time, Wilkerson enjoys spending time outdoors, playing a new instrument, or hanging out with his friends. He also likes attending concerts and being with his family.
Wilkerson lives in Olathe with his friends and their dog and two cats.
Lily was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. Later, she moved to Kansas City to pursue her mortuary science degree. She graduated from Kansas City Kansas Community college in May of 2024.
In her free time, Lily enjoys being indoors, thrifting and watching new movies.
Jeff Hunzinger is our Prearrangement Counselor and has been with Amos Family Funeral Home since January, 2018. He has worked in varying positions within the prearrangement field for over 25 years. Prior to that he served in the U.S. Army as an Armor officer and recruiter for 15 years. “It is an honor and pleasure to work with families prior to a death occurring. I particularly love the Shawnee community and the involvement of 4 generations of Amos’ in the community. My goal is to help families to be able to truly celebrate a life well lived. I look forward to meeting you.”
Tom Ohmes has lived in Shawnee his entire life. He graduated from St. Joseph High School and is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
For many years Tom was a baseball and softball umpire in his spare time.
Tom is married to Joann and together they have four children and twelve grandchildren.
Tom likes to spend time with his family and enjoys relaxing in Branson, Missouri.
